One Apocalypse The Dark Side Book 4 edition by Kristy Cunning Paranormal Romance eBooks

I loved this series, right up until the end, and now I almost wish I hadn't read it at all.

Spoilers
I read books for the romance and HEA, not for the action/adventure side of things, and the ending just made it all mean so much less. When the original Paca and her horsemen died and were reborn, they got to develop a new love. But then the Paca of this series dies, and her horsemen fall instantly in love with a new incarnation of her? And one who is so pathetic by comparison? I think that she would be happy she got to die and keep them safe and the plans all worked out. But I hate that all sense of romance died with her and they don't care as long as this one is the new Paca. Up until the end, this series was 5 stars, or more. But I wanted the original Paca to have worked out how to use the new one and bring her back too, not have her come back as a clumsy pale imitation.

One Apocalypse The Dark Side Book 4 edition by Kristy Cunning Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews

It's like a 3.9 for me. I love Paca and her Horsemen, and there are a lot of things that did it for me. The last installment wasn't what I expected so I didn't have a lot of expectation for this one, but it actually turned out really well. I didn't like the errors, and yes, I'm aware I only paid a dollar for this and that these days, I shouldn't be expecting perfect books. Well, I do. If there were only one or two errors, I'd totally understand, but it read like someone didn't bother to really check before giving it the green light. Some parts were okay, at one point, I skipped a few pages of nothing but action because I'm here for the soul-crushing sex and realization that Paca is just amazingly awesome. I cried TWICE when Cunning decided to remind her readers that these men will die for her, but most of them do not.... love her.

Ah, I died! I'd totally forgotten that these men weren't as in love with her as she was them, and then suddenly all these feels were overwhelming me as I read on and that's when it got really good for me. I laughed a lot throughout this book and I thought it was one of Cunning's strongest points as a writer. The ending was a little weird because it was great and intense and then all kinda ended in like a sentence before the details were brought back, but the epilogue was bittersweet and over, it's just a hilarious series that I really recommend.
The Apocalypse and her Four horsemen have been some of my absolute favorite characters. I love the dynamic between Paca and her favorite of the day, which can change as easily as the wind blows. Their relationship has transformed over the series and keeps you captivated. This will definitely be a series I re-read often.

Kai, Gage, Ezekiel and Jude make up the Four horsemen. I love that this book is from all of their POVs as well. You get an inside peek at their frustration when dealing with Paca, as well as a glimpse into how their dynamic works.

The guys certainly have their hands overflowing in this book. Paca's ill timed rants, crazy antics, funny one liners, outrageous outfits, and odd fixations provide such great comedic scenes. I will never be able to enjoy some popcorn without a smile gracing my face as I think of Paca.

If you know how much Cm Owens (aka Kristy Cunning) hates unicorns then those scenes alone are reason enough to buy the book!!!
Feels like I’ve waited forever for this final book in the series. I actually reread the first 3 twice during that lag time. I’ll admit I built this conclusion up in my head because the series has been so good! I can’t say that I was disappointed with One Apocalypse but it was at times a bit hard to follow while Paca was unraveling her riddles. The only reason I don’t give it the full 5 stars is because (and I’m desperately trying to avoid spoilers) I loved the fiery, funny, badass Keyla/Paca so much that the epilogues left me slightly sad. Otherwise I thought the ending was absolutely brilliant. Overall I highly recommend the series!
I really loved the first three books of the series, however, I struggled with this one. I really loved the scenes that focused on her leveling up and growing, but the book got very confusing sometimes. I don't know if the author was having trouble keeping things straight with all the secrets and supposed hurt feelings, and Paca's craziness, but things weren't conveyed as clearly as I think they could have been. I felt that pieces were missing, or there wasn't a smooth connection from one scene to another and I didn't understand all of the secrets and hurt feelings because there weren't enough details given to support the why. Also, the guys were being total jerks at sometimes and didn't trust her one bit, even given her skills. I really hated that they had no faith in our heroin, even up until the very end. They acted like a bunch of brats for most of this book.

Also, though Paca apparently doesn't have a favorite guy, the author clearly did and it wasn't Jude. There was so little focus put on him whether it was his relationship with Paca or scenes from his POV and as far as I'm concerned he was the ultimate alpha anti-hero. I felt that Gage and Kai were constantly "snatching" Paca at all times and frankly it started to get annoying. I know they're supposed to be able to share her 100% with no jealousy but the way the relationship was portrayed I can't see how that neutral harem setup would even be a possibility with so much focus on certain guys.

It wrapped up the series well, but my favorite parts weren't so much the harem, but Paca's power and what she was capable of. I also really liked her siblings and wish there was more storyline on them. I realize it is a short book and series, but if the author wanted to, she could have definitely stretched this one out longer, IMO.
I loved this series, right up until the end, and now I almost wish I hadn't read it at all.
